Family Services Specialist II represents the full-performance level in the Family Services Specialist series. Employees at this level function more independently and are responsible for interpreting laws, policies, and regulations as applied to specific program areas such as Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/Adoption, Child Care, and Employment Services. They monitor, coordinate, and administer assigned programs, interview and assess customer needs, inform clients of program rules and their rights, present cases for service determination, write and implement service plans, provide case management, manage program waiting lists, track expenditures, prepare budget estimates, ensure payment for services, and complete reporting requirements. They also coordinate with other agencies, conduct overall program monitoring, serve as a resource to clients and the community, and provide after-hours on-call coverage and emergency response in child/adult protective services and foster care.
