•$55,000 - $65,000

About The Position

The Family Services Specialist II is a full-performance role in the Family Services occupational group. The employee develops and implements individualized service plans using casework methods and manages basic Foster Care caseloads. The role may provide services across program areas or specialize in one or more. Employees generally perform tasks independently and seek supervisory guidance for unusual situations or when policy requires review or involvement. The position is distinguished from the Family Services Specialist III, which operates at an advanced level, with greater specialization and more complex duties. The role involves interpreting and applying human-services laws and policies, coordinating and monitoring programs and services, interviewing and assessing clients, presenting cases, implementing service plans, and providing case management. The specialist also handles program administration and reporting, collaborates with other agencies and multidisciplinary teams, serves as a resource to clients and the community, and provides after-hours on-call coverage for emergencies involving child or adult protective services and/or foster care. VDSS partners with local departments of social services and community organizations to promote the well-being of children and families across Virginia.
