About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Family Services Assistant is to assist the Family Services Manager with the operations of the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD) during the designated weekday hours. This position is considered “Flex” to provide for coverage for day and evening shift staff on their days off. The Family Services Assistant is knowledgeable of the mission, goals, and objectives of RMHD.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of the mission, goals, and objectives of RMHD.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with families on all RMHD policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate accurate eligibility criteria to referral sources and families.
  • Ability to perform background checks for pending referrals.
  • Ability to review and accept referrals received in Exceed Beyond.
  • Ability to perform daily review of census utilizing Exceed Beyond and coordinates with the team on room availability status.
  • Ability to complete the check-in and check-out process for families.
  • Ability to handle data entry of current day activity into Exceed Beyond.
  • Ability to reconcile missing data points in Exceed Beyond at shift end.
  • Ability to assist kitchen coordinator with meals during breakfast and lunch.
  • Ability to complete van shuttle runs.
  • Ability to assist with the reconciliation of cash drawer, proper documentation of merchandise sales, and accounting for all receipts.
  • Ability to ensure soiled linen closets are checked twice per shift, soiled linens are collected, laundered, and folded before the end of shift.
  • Ability to ensure the Family Janitorial Closets on each residential hall are stocked with adequate cleaning supplies for family use.
  • Ability to assure that donations of goods and services are documented.
  • Ability to communicate with the Senior Family Services Manager regarding family issues.
  • Ability to ensure security of facility is maintained by making regularly scheduled rounds of the building and monitoring security video system.
  • Ability to conduct daily inspections of RMHD and grounds to identify safety, maintenance, housekeeping, and overall appearance issues, and coordinates resolution with Senior Family Services Manager.
  • Ability to complete maintenance request forms as needed.
  • Ability to monitor RMHD activity and maintain control of the facility usage by families, volunteers, and all other guests.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents in accordance with RMHD Emergency Preparedness, Disaster Recovery, and Crisis Communication plans.
  • Ability to ensure Inventory Control of Family Services Products and ordering.
  • Ability to ensure restocking and readiness of Transplant Apartments.
  • Ability to demonstrate an atmosphere of warmth, compassion, and support to always ensure a nurturing atmosphere.
  • Ability to create an atmosphere of hospitality and ensure the well-being and comfort of families.
  • Ability to encourage family interaction.
  • Ability to oversee family activities during assigned hours.
  • Ability to provide support and direction to volunteers in collaboration with the Senior Family Services Manager and Volunteer Manager.
  • Ability to work with the Family Activities Manager and Volunteer Manager to coordinate tours for volunteers and groups during the weekend.
  • Ability to communicate with Volunteer Manager about any unique situations with a volunteer.
  • Ability to encourage volunteer interaction with families.
  • Ability to maintain an awareness of Board functions and Board members in general.
  • Ability to perform other duties as directed by Senior Family Services Manager, administrator in-charge, or CEO.
