This is a 1-year term position for a Family Service Social Worker in Abbotsford, working with children aged 0-12 on Team 2. The role involves providing culturally appropriate and responsive community-based services within the parameters of the BC Child, Family and Community Services Act and the Aboriginal Operational and Practice Standards and Indicators (AOPSI). The social worker will be the first point of contact for child protection reports and will collaborate with families, community members, Band Designates, Elders, and other supports in case planning and service delivery. Services will encompass Family Development Response, Protective and Voluntary Family Service, and Guardianship. The position requires knowledge of Community Protocols and participation in community events and ceremonies. The agency, Xyólheméylh, is a fully delegated Indigenous Child & Family Service Agency serving Indigenous children, youth, and families on and off reserve within Stó:lō Territory. They emphasize strengthening culture and identity, honoring family strengths, and working holistically to keep families together and reintegrate children. The agency is supported by an Elders Advisory Council.
