About The Position

The Head Start Family Child Care Program is available through the Family Child Care Network (Family Child Care Provider Homes). All Family Child Care Homes provide free quality services to young children and to their families’ ages 3 to 5 years of age. Families are respected as partners in the early care and education process with their children. The Family Child Care Providers’ homes are nurturing learning environments that promote children’s cognitive, social, emotional, language literacy, and physical development. Providers are caring and competent educators who guide the children ‘s learning experiences by exposing them to a variety of developmentally appropriate Montessori activities. Providers strives to actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program, as a key to a child’s robust. development as well as to offer the learning experiences tailored to the changing needs and abilities of children.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in a human services related field; preferably in an early childhood setting.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, & crawling.
  • Occasional running.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Able to travel to different locations throughout the five boroughs including but not limited to conducting Home visits.

Nice To Haves

  • B.A. in Human Services/Social Work preferred.
  • Family Development Credential preferred.
  • Knowledge of consolidated databases preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English; Russian/English; Chinese/English; Korean/English; English/Creole speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate parent involvement and education programs.
  • Supervise Family Assistants and Family Workers providing on-going guidance and support.
  • Coordinate recruitment and registration efforts of perspective clients.
  • Maintain all intake data.
  • Attend and participate in all family related matters.
  • Assist families in with family related matters and concerns.
  • Ensure Family Partnerships Agreements (goals) are developed and followed up with as mandated by funding source performance standards.
  • Maintain a yearly updated community resources binder, in agreement with the demographic changes within the community.
  • Plan and implement appropriate orientation into the program for new families.
  • Coordinate recruitment and registration of new families.
  • Ensure the completion and organization of the reports.
  • Provide assistance to families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
