About The Position

Northeast Arc's mission is to help people with disabilities become full participants in their communities, choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize, and play. The Family Resource Specialist plays a meaningful role in bringing that mission to life every day. This is a full-time position split between two programs within the Family Services Division: the Family Resource Center (FRC) and the Guided Personal Supports (GPS) program. In this role, you will participate in the delivery of family support services, assist families in the process of identifying and accessing the supports necessary to alleviate stress and promote their health and well-being, and provide in-home and community support for adults with developmental disabilities. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of community-based services is required.
• Strong time management, multitasking, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and complete multiple complex projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly detail-oriented and able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and prioritize work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of databases preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Ability to safely access community settings.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to attend off-site meetings and events; light physical activity required.
• Sitting at a desk approximately 50% of the day; standing and walking the remaining 50% of the workday.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Attendance at all annual mandatory trainings required by the program as well as Northeast Arc.
• Must successfully complete and pass all required background checks as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

• 1 to 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management and ongoing support to families prioritized by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and assist families in the development and implementation of annual Family Support Plans.
• Conduct home and community visits, as needed, to assess needs, provide support, and monitor service delivery.
• Provide comprehensive and individualized information, guidance, and support to families to address their needs; connect them to potential resources; assist with problem-solving; and help navigate the service system.
• Assist families in crisis by actively listening, delivering family support as available, and notifying the Director of the Family Support Centers, North Shore DDS office, and, when necessary, other authorities such as the Department of Children and Families and local police.
• Work on goals and skills acquisition with individuals in areas such as communication, social and recreation, activities of daily living (ADLs), and safety skills, while maintaining regular communication with families, DDS personnel, community providers, and other professionals involved in supporting the family.
• Attend and represent the FRC at meetings, resource fairs, seminars, and conferences; assist in the implementation of community-based activities; and offer in-person activities on a monthly basis.
• Use a resource database to search for necessary goods, services, and supports; maintain the database and keep it current.
• Complete all necessary paperwork such as progress notes, incident reports, timesheets, and required DDS progress reports throughout the year.
