About The Position

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Active or eligible for California physician licensure
  • Board Certification
  • Current or ability to obtain DEA registration and applicable California prescribing credentials
  • Current BLS/CPR or ACLS certification
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Experience working with electronic health record systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary care team

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a community health center or similar setting
  • Bilingual skills in a language commonly spoken within the surrounding community

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care, including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, care planning, and education
  • Manage acute illnesses, preventive care, and chronic medical conditions
  • Review and manage laboratory results, diagnostic imaging, prescription refills, referrals, consultation notes, and outside medical records
  • Prescribe medications and develop appropriate treatment plans based on each patient's clinical needs
  • Refer patients to specialists and additional care services when appropriate
  • Provide patient education regarding disease prevention, treatment, and ongoing health management
  • Perform appropriate in-office procedures within scope of practice
  • Accurately and efficiently document patient care within the electronic health record
  • Collaborate closely with nursing, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Provide clinical direction and coordination to nursing and support staff as appropriate
  • Participate in quality improvement, peer review, care team development, and other clinical initiatives
  • Support the education and development of students when applicable
  • Participate in rotating after-hours outpatient triage and shared on-call responsibilities
  • Maintain ongoing clinical competency through Continuing Medical Education and professional development
