About The Position

Come work as a Family Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking qualified physicians to join our team and deliver exceptional care to our Vancouver community. We offer flexibility for family physicians to work in a variety of different programs and settings, including: Primary Care Clinics (with a focus on at risk populations), Long-Term Care, Older Adult Care in a range of settings, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, Urgent and Primary Care Centres, Homelessness, Supported Housing, Complex Care Teams, Community Palliative Care (including hospice), and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). If you are interested in splitting your time between different programs/settings or focusing your work in one area, while joining a team connected by collaboration, support and the goal of providing quality patient care, this could be the opportunity for you! Whether you are just starting your career, or are already an established physician, we will work with you to tailor a job that fits your interests and allows you to challenge yourself. We can offer part time, full time or temporary (locum) opportunities.

Requirements

  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) Eligible – Mandatory
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License – Full/Provisional
  • Specific training requirements may be needed for certain programs (e.g., Palliative Care, Addiction Medicine).

Nice To Haves

  • Palliative Care – Candidates should meet at least one of the following 3 criteria: Recognized with a Certificate of Added Competency in Palliative Care by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP-PC); Completed “Year of Added Competency” training in Palliative Care at an accredited training site; Holder of Palliative Medicine credentials earned in another jurisdiction that are acceptable to both the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia and the governing body of the Health Authority and its Affiliates.
  • Addiction Medicine: May need completed Addiction Medicine Fellowship/Enhanced Skills. May need to have completed Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program (POATSP).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional care to the Vancouver community.
  • Work in various programs and settings including Primary Care Clinics, Long-Term Care, Older Adult Care, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, Urgent and Primary Care Centres, Homelessness/Supported Housing/Complex Care Teams, Community Palliative Care (including hospice), and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).
  • Potentially split time between different programs/settings or focus work in one area.
  • Collaborate with a team focused on providing quality patient care.
