About The Position

At Cardinal McCloskey Community Services (CMCS), our mission is to protect, empower, and promote independence for at-risk children and families and those with developmental disabilities through quality community-based services. As a Family Peer Advocate, you will use your personal journey and lived experience to support families facing mental health challenges. You will walk alongside them, offering empathy, encouragement, and practical guidance as they navigate treatment and recovery. Your insight will help others feel seen, heard, and understood, making you a trusted role model and a vital part of their support system. This role is for individuals passionate about helping others find hope and strength.

Requirements

  • Caring, upbeat personality.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Credential as a Family Peer Advocate by an OMH (Office of Mental Health)-approved credentialing program
  • Demonstrate lived experience as a parent or primary caregiver who has navigated multiple child serving systems on behalf of their child(ren) with social, emotional, developmental and/or behavioral healthcare needs.

Responsibilities

  • Use personal lived experience to support families facing mental health challenges.
  • Walk alongside families, offering empathy, encouragement, and practical guidance as they navigate treatment and recovery.
  • Help families feel seen, heard, and understood.
  • Serve as a trusted role model and a vital part of the family's support system.
