About The Position

Mountain Lake Services is seeking a Family Peer Advocate to support individuals and their care teams through mental health challenges in Keeseville, NY. This role offers a flexible 40-hour schedule, including one weekend day, with a focus on supporting families in strengthening their children's mental and physical health and overall well-being. The advocate will assist families in implementing clinician-recommended strategies, such as medication management, behavior support, and crisis plans, and will facilitate communication between families and clinicians. Additionally, the role involves connecting families with relevant parenting workshops and courses.

Requirements

  • Completion of the Family Peer Advocate certification process and full credentialing required.
  • Personal lived experience supporting a family member with mental health challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Directly support the efforts of families in caring for and strengthening their children’s mental and physical health as well as assisting with the development and well-being of their children.
  • Assist the family to implement strategies recommended by clinicians (e.g. medication management, behavior support, crisis plan) and talk to clinicians about their comfort with these plans.
  • Provide and link families to workshops and courses on parenting that are matched to families’ individual needs.
