About The Position

Family Building Blocks is seeking a full-time Family Outreach Coordinator to engage and recruit families in the Santiam Canyon area. This role involves building connections with families by providing support and engagement while they await services, facilitating parent education and playgroups, and hosting community events. A key responsibility is developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with community partner organizations to enhance community connections and family access to resources.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and three years of experience in similar positions, OR associate's degree in social work or related field with two years of experience establishing collaborative relationships with community partner organizations OR a combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge of early childhood and/or home visiting program.
  • Demonstrated experience providing early childhood education and/or parenting education services and knowledgeable about early child education systems, parenting education programs, and work with at-risk populations.
  • Experience demonstrating strong pro-active and positive leadership, initiative and independent judgment.
  • Strong commitment to Family Building Blocks mission and values serving children and families.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional atmosphere at Family Building Blocks and promote caring, calm and respectful interactions with families, children, volunteers, interns and staff of Family Building.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and promoting positive, forward thinking, and a strength-based approach.
  • Experience working and providing support to high risk families while adhering to program policies and standards.
  • Must maintain discretion and respect the confidentiality of information about enrolled families, personnel issues and other program information.
  • Must be creative, flexible, able to juggle multiple priorities, and exercise good judgment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to stay calm in a busy environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including use of internet, email, and data entry (Microsoft Office) and ability to learn new programs.
  • Must have Pediatric First Aid/ CPR card and Food Handler's card within 30 days of employment.
  • Possess a valid Oregon Driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation. Must be able to provide proof of current auto insurance.
  • Must successfully pass Oregon Department of Early Learning Child Care Background Registry and Oregon State Police Criminal Background Check.
  • An employer-paid pre-employment drug test is required.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and engage families directly at community events and health fairs.
  • Set up and take down recruitment event materials (giveaways, table, chairs, canopies).
  • Develop, advertise, and engage families through parent-child playgroups and parenting classes.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations and churches for playgroup and class locations.
  • Work with the FBB Development department to create marketing materials and secure supplies for events.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts with the Enrollment Specialist.
  • Act as a liaison between early learning community partners using the universal referral process.
  • Identify and implement creative methods to locate, connect with, and engage families.
  • Track all recruitment activities and events.
  • Deliver respectful and immediate support to families in crisis using a strengths-based approach.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact and service navigator for families.
  • Provide ongoing phone calls and case management to families waiting for services.
  • Maintain regular contact with families until they are connected with an agency for ongoing support.
  • Host and facilitate parent education classes using research-based curricula.
  • Communicate regularly with parents participating in classes.
  • Recruit and market parenting classes to community partners and parents.
  • Track class numbers, attendance, retention rates, and complete parenting skill ladders.
  • Provide backup for other parent education classes, Parent Leadership, and EHS Policy Council.
  • Attend in-service training to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings (site meetings, Intake and Screening Team, community outreach team, All Staff).
  • Build, develop, and strengthen community partnerships.
  • Participate in agency-wide projects and initiatives.
  • Support multiculturalism by treating all people with dignity and respect and not engaging in discriminatory behavior.
  • Support Family Building Blocks established safety policies and procedures toward a safe and healthy work environment.
