About The Position

Marathon Health is a leading advanced primary care provider that partners with employer and union plan sponsors to improve health for millions of Americans. They offer a value-based model through nationwide onsite, nearsite, and network health centers, as well as virtual primary care, which enhances the healthcare experience for members and providers while driving cost savings for plan sponsors. Marathon Health is certified as a Great Place to Work®, emphasizing an inclusive, high-trust culture. The company focuses on high-quality, proactive primary care for adults and children, emphasizing prevention, wellness, acute and chronic disease management, and maximizing provider-patient relationships. They seek providers passionate about full-spectrum primary care to achieve top-notch clinical quality, outstanding service, and reduced overall health costs. This role offers a smaller patient panel (less than half the traditional PCP panel size), more time with patients (appointments range from 20 to 60 minutes), fewer administrative and insurance-related tasks, and the opportunity to work within a team dedicated to improving the U.S. healthcare system. The physician will provide patient-centered primary care and occupational health services to employees at assigned Marathon Health Centers through an Employer-Sponsored Direct Primary Care model. This model allows for a smaller panel where providers can spend as much time as they want with patients without financial risk. The role includes various occupational health responsibilities such as physicals, evaluations, administering vaccines, performing drug and alcohol testing, vision screening, TB testing, lift testing, hearing conservation programs, pulmonary function testing, and respirator fit testing. Additional duties involve HAZMAT and lead surveillance, work injury and exposure care, stay-at-work coordination, and developing work restriction recommendations and referral management. The physician will also support advanced occupational health reporting, including regulatory reporting, first report of injury documentation, workers’ compensation and claims reporting, and OSHA log and recordability tracking. The Employer-Sponsored Direct Primary Care model features enhanced relationships with limited patient panels (800-1000 patients), patient-centered medicine in a capitated-fee environment allowing for unhurried visits (30-60 minutes), and aligned incentives focused on improving health outcomes and patient engagement. It removes distorted fee-for-service incentives, with all care included in the monthly membership fee. The model facilitates a focus on preventive care, enabling providers to proactively work with patients on lifestyle changes. It offers a flexible practice approach with an insurance-free work environment, reducing paperwork and increasing time for patient care. Technology is leveraged for patient interaction through mobile phones and secure email. The model utilizes electronic medical records and population management tools for state-of-the-art care, with a dedication to quality, clinical outcomes, and patient service experience. Physicians demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork and collaborate with at least two or more Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
