Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Virginia Nurse Practitioner license or eligibility
  • Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Eligible for credentialing and privileging
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based clinical guidelines
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify care plans as appropriate
  • Provide preventive care and wellness services
  • Deliver urgent and emergency care, including CPR when required
  • Build trusting relationships with patients and families
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and disease prevention
  • Encourage healthy lifestyle choices and chronic disease self-management
  • Coordinate care across multiple providers and specialties
  • Refer patients requiring specialty or hospital-based services
  • Conduct home visits for non-ambulatory patients as appropriate
  • Provide care in skilled nursing facilities when assigned
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, behavioral health providers, pharmacists, dental providers, and care coordinators
  • Participate in integrated care planning
  • Consult supervising physicians regarding complex patient care
  • Foster a respectful, collaborative, team-oriented clinical environment
  • Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic health record
  • Maintain complete and compliant medical records
  • Meet established productivity and quality standards
  • Follow Joint Commission standards and National Patient Safety Goals
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Support data collection and collaborative reporting activities
  • Attend medical staff meetings and clinical quality activities
