The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) provides a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF). This includes general screenings, medical care, and examinations for routine, acute, and chronic conditions affecting any organ system. The FNP will also provide technical direction and education to other staff members, conduct evidence-based educational lectures, and participate in in-service training. Additionally, the FNP administers immunizations, diagnoses and treats patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, and minor trauma within established protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, or in consultation with a physician. The role also emphasizes promoting preventive care and health maintenance through annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care education via formal and individual counseling.
