About The Position

Performs physical examinations, orders lab work and x-ray examinations under guidance of healthcare protocols under the Clinic Medical Director and Hospital Chief of Staff. Complies with department and organization-wide policies, Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic requirements, Safety, and Infection Control, and all Federal and State of Colorado regulations related to the performance of Keefe Memorial Hospital operations and requirements of the compliance program. Provides services within accepted professional healthcare standards of care in accordance with safe and accepted patient care practices and current ethical standards and in accordance with a nurse practitioner’s best skill and judgement. Practices healthcare and renders professional healthcare services at a level of expertise expected of a fully trained nurse practitioner in the execution of duties that include, but are not limited to, general acute patient care, subacute patient care, emergency patient care, primary care, and other duties reasonably appropriate to the practice of family healthcare. Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients. Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities. Monitors the effectiveness of interventions. Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between healthcare settings, e.g., admitting, transferring, and discharging patients. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals. Participates, on a reasonable and equitable basis with other providers, in the affairs of committees established by the organization. May be assigned as a committee member for the RHC Review Committee. Participates in a chart review with the Clinic Medical Director annually. Attends monthly med staff meetings. Provides educational materials to staff and patients. Assists in educational, training, and in-service programs. Participates in clinic and hospital’s quality assurance program and provides all services in accordance with applicable licensure, accreditation and reimbursement standards and Medicare conditions of participation, and abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and the administrative policies of the clinic and hospital. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • RN licensure in Colorado or a compact party state and board-certified by either ANCC or AANP
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
  • Current Prescriptive authorization/DEA
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred
