About The Position

The AK-Chin Health Clinic, located in Maricopa, Arizona (38 miles from Phoenix), is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner or Certified Physician Assistant to provide clinical services in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. The clinic offers outpatient care and community outreach programs, staffed by a team of physicians, mid-level providers, registered nurses, and ancillary staff. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric, and requires knowledge of diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic procedures across various medical fields. The position also emphasizes the importance of understanding human behavior during stressful situations, exercising emotional control, tact, patience, and reliability in patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills, the ability to provide emergency treatment, and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse populations, including Native American communities. Additionally, the role requires the capability to guide and lead other healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active, valid, and current certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Must have certification through the AANP/NCCPA, respectively.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Degree or diploma from a professional nursing or physician assistant program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed.
  • Sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills, social, and cultural sensitivities, and appropriate professional behavior in order to relate constructively to Client employees, contractors, vendors, and individuals from various Native American communities or Tribes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services in Internal Medicine or Family Practice at the assigned location.
  • Perform clinic day services in accordance with a work schedule established by the Chief of Primary Care or Internal Medicine.
  • Apply knowledge of diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic positions related to a variety of medical health care fields, including nurse practitioners, emergencies, medicine, minor/major surgery, and nutrition.
  • Utilize knowledge of human behavior during stressful situations to exercise emotional control, tact, patience, and reliability in carrying out patient care.
  • Make diagnoses and choose, initiate, and modify selected therapies, and provide emergency treatment if necessary.
  • Work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and different cultures.
  • Assess the physical-psychosocial health status of patients and family based upon the knowledge of growth and development patterns and health conditions that require medical management.
  • Provide services to patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to other healthcare providers.
