About The Position

Nova Scotia Health is seeking 2-3 physicians to join their rural generalist team in Inverness, Cape Breton, to provide full-scope care for Inverness County. The team collectively shares coverage of the Community Health Centre, Emergency Room, a 32-bed in-patient unit, and a Long-Term Care Facility, offering 24/7 care. There is flexibility to share services if full-scope care does not align with individual practice preferences. Requirements

Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).

Physicians new to emergency medicine will be supported to enhance skills and comfort.
Opportunity to provide Palliative Care and General Practice Oncology services.

Responsibilities

Provide full scope care of Inverness County as part of a rural generalist team.
Share coverage of the Community Health Centre, Emergency Room, 32-bed in-patient unit, and Long-Term Care Facility.
Provide hospitalist medicine, including care for patients from their own family practice admitted to the in-patient unit, rounding prior to clinic, and fielding calls from the floor.
Provide 24/7 Emergency Room coverage, including 12-hour solo shifts compensated hourly.
Participate in Split Flow/Lower Acuity Emergency Medicine shifts, treating triage level 4 and 5 patients alongside another physician.
Offer Palliative Care and General Practice Oncology services if interested.
