About The Position

Serve as a liaison between insurance and health care providers to ensure the timely coordination, and accurate processing, of patient referrals required for medical specialty visits. Work performed as part of a total health care team in providing patient referrals coordination and navigation including: Tracking and documentation of patient referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety. Assemble patient demographic, insurance/payer, and health data. Insurance/payer prior authorization. Provide patient and family communication, navigation, and advocacy through the referral process. Establish and maintain communication and relationships with identified service providers and community resources. Update patient records with demographics, insurance, and information on specialist consults, hospitalizations, ER visits, and community organizations related to their health. Requirements

  • Associate degree plus One (1) year of experience directly related to the processing of patient referrals; OR High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years of experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant; OR High school diploma or GED plus five (5) years of experience directly related to patient registration, patient scheduling, patient billing/collections, the processing of prior authorizations, and/or the processing of patient referrals.
