About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking Family Medicine + Emergency Locum Physicians to join their team in Bella Coola. This role offers a full-scope practice including inpatient, emergency, and primary care within a supportive, community-oriented setting. The position involves a 1:3 or 1:4 call rotation and offers a streamlined scheduling model for balanced workload and flexibility. Physicians will receive an orientation to the site and available supports.

Requirements

• Full or provisional license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) OR Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Emergency medicine experience.
• Ability to provide clinical care for 55 hours per week.
• Availability for a minimum 1-week locum (Monday–Sunday) with arrival the day prior.

Nice To Haves

• Certification or eligibility for certification by the Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP).

Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope practice including inpatient, emergency, and primary care.
• Participate in a 1:3 or 1:4 call rotation.
• Conduct daily physician rounds from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
• See patients during clinic hours from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
• Provide clinical care for 55 hours per week.
• Respond to emergency room calls 24/7.
• Attend to patients during call shifts ranging from 12-24 hours.
