About The Position

This is a full-time Family Law Paralegal position located in Livingston, NJ. The role involves assisting attorneys with all phases of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, parenting time, and domestic violence cases. Responsibilities include case management, document preparation and filing, client and court communication, legal research, trial preparation, and administrative support. The position requires a strong understanding of New Jersey family law and proficiency in relevant technical skills.

Requirements

  • Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution, Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies, or equivalent family law experience.
  • 2–5 years of paralegal experience, preferably within a family law practice.
  • Experience supporting attorneys in family law litigation matters from case inception through resolution.
  • Strong understanding of New Jersey family law statutes, court rules, and procedural requirements.
  • Familiarity with family court practices and filing procedures.
  • Experience with New Jersey eCourts and electronic filing systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with legal case management and document management software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple active cases.

  • Knowledge of alimony, child support, and equitable distribution calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, parenting time, and domestic violence cases.
  • Maintain and organize case files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court requirements.
  • Monitor case deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements.
  • Draft, review, file, and serve legal documents, including Complaints, Motions, Subpoenas, Affidavits and Certifications, Discovery Requests and Responses, and Case Information Statements (CIS).
  • Prepare correspondence and other legal documentation as needed.
  • Manage electronic filing through New Jersey eCourts and related court systems.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding case status and procedural updates.
  • Coordinate communications with opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and third-party service providers.
  • Schedule hearings, mediations, depositions, and attorney-client meetings.
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.
  • Prepare exhibits, hearing binders, trial notebooks, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, and trials.
  • Assist with billing, time entry, and case-related administrative tasks.
  • Support attorneys with calendar management and workflow coordination.
