About The Position

This position oversees and directs the Administrative Overpayments and Policy Units within the Family Investment Division of the Baltimore County Department of Social Services. The role requires accurate interpretation of local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to achieve the division's mission. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assisting with training, and coordinating the activities of both units.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience supervising workers engaged in determining eligibility for governmental assistance programs or monitoring compliance in those programs.
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland (if assigned duties requiring vehicle operation).

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and Eligibility and Enrollment program software.
  • One year of experience creating management reports and utilizing the Family Investment Verification System.
  • One year of experience developing and revising processes and procedures to enhance program effectiveness and efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Directing the daily operations of both the Administrative Appeals Unit and Policy Unit.
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and training staff on policy releases, Action transmittals, Information Memos, and other policy clarifications from all local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Designing and implementing processes to ensure staff abide by the SOPs in place.
  • Assisting with training staff on policies.
