About The Position

The Intercept program offers a unique opportunity to engage in an evidence-based model serving youth and their families identified through the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). This program supports a diverse population of youth and families in Ocean, Monmouth, and Mercer counties, including those involved with multiple child-serving systems and those at high risk of family removal. Specialists manage a small caseload of 5 families at a time.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptable and possess the ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Receptive to constructive feedback and willingness to implement new ideas and strategies during sessions.
  • Practices a trauma-informed philosophy as demonstrated through behaviors and communications, embracing it as a cultural value.
  • Bachelor's degree in social services.
  • One-year related experience in counseling and/or case management.
  • Valid New Jersey Driver's License in good standing.
  • Own transportation to use for work purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in the field of social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Prior case management and/or counseling experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (with a $1000.00 incentive).

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for families within involved systems such as CP&P or CSOC (Children’s System of Care), to gather information for intervention development and advocate for the child’s long-term stability.
  • Work regularly with DCP&P staff to assist families in successfully addressing needs and strengthening the family system.
  • Carry a small caseload of 5 families at a time.
  • Provide individualized family sessions in home and community settings to safely maintain youth in their homes.
  • Provide an average of three face-to-face sessions with the family per week, including youth and their support system, at the family's convenience.
  • Attend and actively participate in trainings, individual and team supervision, and professional development.
  • Follow up and/or implement feedback and recommendations received from the Team Supervisor, Program Director, and Licensed Program Expert.
  • Adhere to all ethical and legal guidelines, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
  • Provide after-hours support to families using a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Respond in person during some crisis situations as deemed necessary by their leadership team.
  • Utilize an agency vehicle to provide transportation support if all other means of transportation support have been exhausted.
