About The Position

The Family Intervention Specialist (FIS) provides Family Check Up (FCU) and Texas Home Visit (THV) services. The role involves completing all requirements for FCU time model certification within the EVP timeline and participating in team supervision for case reviews and feedback. The FIS will utilize the FCU model to provide THV, ensuring fidelity to the model. This includes conducting family and individual sessions in clients' homes or other convenient settings, averaging 1 hour per week per family. Services provided are unique to each family, promoting child safety, permanency, and well-being through evidence-based and trauma-informed in-home interventions. The specialist will conduct strengths-based, individualized initial and ongoing assessments to inform treatment plans, and implement interventions to address families' basic needs and long-term sustainability. Timely documentation, including FCU fidelity documents, is required. The role also involves providing transportation assistance, helping families plan for future transportation needs, assisting with access to psychiatric services and medication management, and helping families develop natural support networks. Interventions will be delivered according to FCU and everyday parenting models. The FIS will promote and supervise youth success in school, teaching parents to advocate for their children's educational needs. Attendance at child/youth case-related meetings, court appearances, preparation of youth and families for court, and communication with case managers and court staff (in consultation with family and DFPS) are also key responsibilities. Individualized treatment plans, periodically updated to reflect family and child goals, focusing on empowerment and parent accountability, will be included. Maintaining strict client confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA regulations and company policies, and implementing Saint Francis' policies and SOPs are essential. The specialist must ensure clients' rights are protected, report unusual incidents through appropriate channels, and follow all safety procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology.
Minimum of 1 year of experience working in child welfare direct service
Must be 21 years of age.
Must pass a drug screen, MVR, Criminal History and DFPS History Check, Centralized Background Check Unit Texas Health and Human Services Eligibility and any background checks deemed to be necessary.
FBI Fingerprint Check
Lifting requirement of 50 lbs.
Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
Mandated reporter
Receives training in trauma informed practice and incorporates knowledge in day-to-day practice
Team player that supports corporate decisions and Saint Francis’ vision, mission and ministry
Understanding of child and adolescent development and family systems
Understanding of family-driven practice, child welfare, the state system, and behavioral health care delivery systems
Able to work flexible schedule including after hours

Responsibilities

Complete all requirements to be certified in the FCU time model within EVP timeline.
Participate in team supervision where cases are reviewed, and feedback is provided.
Utilize the FCU model to provide THV, adhering to and ensuring fidelity to the FCU model.
Conducts family and individual sessions as needed in clients’ own homes and other settings when convenient for the family, spending an average of 1 hours per week.
Provides services unique to each family that promotes the achievement of safety, permanency, and well-being for the children, including evidence-based and trauma-informed in-home services.
Conducts initial and on-going assessments that are strengths based and individualized to be incorporated in treatment plans.
Implement interventions to ensure any gaps related to the family’s basic needs are filled while helping the family also plan for long term sustainability.
Complete all documentation in a timely manner, including FCU fidelity documents
Provide youth and families with necessary transportation and help them plan for long term transportation needs.
Assist family with access to psychiatric services and medication management.
Help families develop a support network in the natural environment.
Deliver interventions according to FCU & everyday parenting models.
Promote and supervise the youth and success in school while helping teach parent to advocate for their children’s educational needs.
Attend child/youth case related meetings.
Attend court, prepare youth and families for court and communicate with the case manager and court staff, when necessary, in consultation with the family and DFPS.
Include the family in individualized treatment plans that are periodically updated to reflect the goals of the family and child and focuses on empowerment and increasing parent accountability.
Maintain strict confidentiality of client’s personal and health information and agency propriety data, adhering to HIPPA regulations and company policies.
Implements Saint Francis’ policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state, and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms.
Ensures clients’ rights are protected.
Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
Will participate in a minimum of 40 hours in-service education per year.
