Family Engagement Specialist
About The Position
Crittenton Children’s Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Family Engagement Specialist to join their team. This is an intake position into the field of child welfare. The position provides an opportunity to help families visit, help parents enhance their parenting skills, and help families reunify. The role utilizes evidence-based programming focusing on Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency through classroom curriculum. It involves providing classroom educational trainings to biological parents as well as one-on-one parenting instruction and education. The specialist will distribute pre and post testing to all participants in the Family Engagement Program, present outcome information to the program director, provide monthly written progress notes on assigned families, and complete comprehensive quarterly reports for court. Additionally, the role involves researching area community resources and connecting families based on their needs, supervising parent-child visits as ordered by the court, and transporting children to and from visitation. Weekly communication with the case manager and resource provider regarding visit progress, concerns, and any noted changes is required. The main activity involves picking up child/children from their placements and transporting them to an agreed-upon location to supervise a visit with their parents, after which the child/children are returned to their placements. Observations of visits will be noted in weekly visit reports, and a monthly summary will be completed. One hour of parent education will be provided weekly on each case.
Requirements
- 2 years of applicable experience
- Must be an independent worker
- Willingness to be flexible with work hours based upon the needs of the families they serve
