About The Position

Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional for a Family Engagement & Preservation Services Supervisor. The successful candidate will join the Prevention & Protective Services division within the Department of Family Services, which envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. We support individuals and families in the community to live their best lives while advocating for those most vulnerable and respecting their right to self-determination. The Family Engagement and Preservation Services (FEPS) Program supports families experiencing crises and challenging youth behaviors through prevention, education, and case management services. Program staff partner with families and their support systems to promote the safety and well-being of children and youth, strengthen family relationships, connect families with community resources, and prevent family disruptions. The FEPS Supervisor reports to the Program Manager and assists with the operational and administrative oversight of the FEPS Unit within the Department of Family Services. This position supervises Prevention Specialists and Youth and Family Support Services Specialists, coordinates intake services, and manages Client Emergency Needs funding requests.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Four (4) years of directly related experience in a human services area
One (1) year of supervisory experience
Valid driver’s license (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification)
Hold or obtain licensure in Social Work, i.e., LCSW or LSW
Hold or obtain additional certifications preferred by the Department
Complete required supervisory training

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree with major coursework in a Human Services field.
Master of Social Work (MSW).
Child Welfare experience.
Bilingual skills in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

Supervises, trains, and evaluates staff in accordance with County and Department policies and procedures.
Establishes performance expectations, provides feedback, addresses performance concerns, and identifies professional development needs.
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains staff when vacancies occur.
Supervises interns and coordinates their assignments.
Oversees intake, assessments, investigations, crisis intervention, eligibility determinations, case management, prevention and placement services, court actions, and service plans.
Provides direction and ensures timely responses to emergency, high-risk, and life threatening situations.
Assists with cases as needed, including home visits, service coordination, placement arrangements, documentation, and emergency funding requests.
Carries a caseload when necessary and works with families to address safety concerns and reduce risk.
Ensures case records, reports, notifications, and database entries comply with federal, state, and local requirements.
Manages Client Emergency Needs funding requests, including Promoting Safe and Stable Families and community funds.
Initiates and participates in Family Partnership Meetings when appropriate.
Addresses client concerns and complaints.
Develops partnerships with community organizations, agencies, and service providers.
Represents the program on committees and community groups and provides presentations as requested.
Researches opportunities for program and service improvements and prepares related data, reports, and presentations.
Leads unit meetings and participates in departmental and divisional meetings as needed.
Promotes teamwork and develops solutions to complex challenges.
Completes special projects and participates in professional development opportunities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
