About The Position

Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is seeking a Family Empowerment Worker for their Prince George, B.C. location. This is a casual employment opportunity within an innovative and progressive leader in Indigenous health and family services. CSFS emphasizes a culture-centered approach and offers unique experiences, close community connections, and the natural beauty of northern B.C. The Family Empowerment Worker will teach life skills to families, schedule access visits, provide services to referred families, and facilitate supervised access to families with children in care.

Requirements

  • Social Services Diploma/Certificate preferred; or Grade 12 diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years’ experience in a related area of practice
  • Two years’ experience in a related area of practice

Responsibilities

  • Teaches life skills to the parents and other family members who access services from the Family Empowerment program. These include; behavior modification methods, role modeling, open discussions, and role-playing.
  • Schedule all access visits between children and their families with foster families and biological families as directed by the Family Support Supervisor.
  • Provide services to families referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, Carrier Sekani Family Services and any other delegated agency requesting services as detailed on individual contracts and Integrated Case Management (ICM) planning meetings.
  • Facilitate goal related supervised access to families who have children in the care of the Director.
