The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association (CMFCAA) is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to educating, supporting, and advocating for foster, adoptive, and kinship children, youth, and families in central Missouri. CMFCAA offers services and partners with community and governmental agencies to develop healthy and self-sufficient individuals and families. The agency currently supports over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, and over 400 adopted children in its service area. The Family Development Program consists of three main components: intake, assessing, and training. The program provides support and services to families interested in fostering/adopting, as well as to existing foster, adoptive, and kinship families. While all team members receive training in each area, hired individuals will have a specific focus on either training or assessing. The primary purpose of this role is to support, guide, educate, and prepare individuals interested in becoming foster, adoptive, kinship, and/or respite caregivers. As an assessor, the employee will conduct comprehensive home studies, which involve multiple interviews within the potential caregiver's home. The evaluation includes various aspects of the family and home environment, such as their motivation for becoming a licensed caregiver, family history and dynamics, support systems, the safety and suitability of the environment, and parenting style and skills. The role also involves in-depth discussions about expectations, cultural understanding, and grief and loss. Additionally, the employee will be responsible for requesting and gathering all necessary documentation for licensure, including background checks, medical evaluations, and personal and professional references.
