About The Position

The Family Coordinator works collaboratively with parents/family members and community partners to promote and coordinate the services of the system. The Family Coordinator will report to the Project Director. Utilizing personal experience, the Family Coordinator will provide peer support for families and caregivers navigating the service systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of agency, partner, and community resources available to establish and provide wraparound services to youth and families with substance use and/or co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.
  • Willingness to advocate for Family Support being included in systems of care that impact youth and family treatment.
  • Support and facilitate training for Family Support Specialists as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work well with individuals from diverse economic, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Lived experience raising a child with a substance abuse, mental health, and/or co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote coordination and integration of family-centered care to ensure participation and involvement of the entire family in the youth’s treatment.
  • Participate as a member of the youth’s treatment team to ensure a strengths-based family-centered approach to services is utilized.
  • Assist families with developing and maintaining natural supports and protective factors that will continue after the completion of formal services.
  • Organize and execute parent education groups on subjects relating to family functioning, provide referrals to identified services, and educate families on advocating for family-centered services on youth’s behalf.
