About The Position

Newark High School is seeking a Family & Consumer Science Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Ohio certificate/license for Family/Consumer Science and be attuned to the social and emotional needs of students. This role involves teaching a variety of Family and Consumer Science courses, including career exploration and financial activities, and requires an interest in working with students in co- or extra-curricular activities. The teacher will be expected to use data to drive instruction, demonstrate successful classroom management and instructional skills, and integrate technology into the classroom. Collaboration with other teachers for interdisciplinary units is also a key aspect of this position, as is educating students on life skills and healthy living habits through hands-on learning opportunities. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, and the candidate must be acceptable to the Building Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Certificated/Licensed Personnel.

Requirements

• Possess valid Ohio certificate/license for Family/Consumer Science.
• Be aware of the social and emotional needs of each individual student.
• Have knowledge and/or experience teaching a variety of Family and Consumer Science courses, including career exploration and financial activities.
• Have interest in and willingness to work with students in co- or extra-curricular activities.
• Use data to drive instruction.
• Have evidence of successful classroom management skills and instructional activities.
• Use/integrate technology into the classroom.
• Be willing to team with other teachers to present interdisciplinary units.
• Educate and promote life skills and healthy living habits.
• Provide hands-on learning opportunities.
• Have ability to work/communicate successfully with others.
• Be acceptable to Building Principal & Assistant Superintendent of Certificated/Licensed Personnel.
