About The Position

The Family Caregivers Alliance of Rhode Island (FCARI) Program Coordinator supports the implementation, coordination, and growth of statewide initiatives that improve the quality of life for family caregivers across Rhode Island. This grant-funded role is active in carrying out day to day activities for the Alliance and works closely with the FCARI Program Manager and coalition partners by supporting operations. Equity, accessibility, and caregiver voice are central to all aspects of this role. The Program Coordinator serves as the operational and engagement role for FCARI activities, providing coordination of coalition meetings, community outreach, communications, caregiver engagement, event logistics, and data collection efforts. Working in close partnership with the Program Manager, the Coordinator implements program activities and helps ensure that FCARI initiatives are equitable, accessible, caregiver-centered, and responsive to community needs. This is a part time position (25 hours per week); responsibilities emphasize program implementation, stakeholder engagement, and coalition support.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Human Services, Public Health, Social Work, Communications, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in community engagement, program coordination, nonprofit operations, outreach, or related work.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Rhode Island for meetings and events.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.

  • Understanding of equity, cultural humility, accessibility, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Experience with data collection, reporting, and program evaluation activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting platforms, databases, and social media tools.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement outreach and relationship-building activities with caregivers and community partners.
  • Attend community events, resource fairs, and outreach opportunities.
  • Deliver presentations to caregivers, organizations, and community groups.
  • Conduct outreach to underserved, rural, multilingual, low-income, and historically marginalized communities.
  • Utilize trauma-informed and culturally responsive engagement strategies.
  • Coordinate caregiver listening sessions, focus groups, and community conversations.
  • Build trusted relationships with caregivers and community stakeholders.
  • Schedule and coordinate coalition and committee meetings.
  • Prepare agendas and supporting materials in partnership with the Program Manager.
  • Record, distribute, and track meeting minutes, action items, and follow-up activities.
  • Maintain communications with coalition members and partner organizations.
  • Monitor coalition commitments, deliverables, and project timelines.
  • Support committees focused on advocacy, communications, equity initiatives, and conference planning.
  • Maintain and update website content and caregiver resources.
  • Coordinate communications through social media platforms and digital channels.
  • Assist with the development and distribution of newsletters and other outreach materials.
  • Ensure content is current, accessible, culturally responsive, and caregiver-focused.
  • Promote events, educational opportunities, and caregiver resources.
  • Support planning and execution of caregiver education initiatives, conferences, and recognition events.
  • Manage event registration, participant communications, and logistical coordination.
  • Coordinate vendors, volunteers, venue needs, and event materials.
  • Provide onsite event support and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with evaluation, reporting, and post-event follow-up activities.
  • Support program evaluation and caregiver voice initiatives.
  • Coordinate annual caregiver surveys, focus groups, and listening sessions.
  • Track outreach, participation, and engagement metrics.
  • Collect caregiver stories and feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Assist with grant reporting and performance measurement requirements.
  • Provide information and referrals to caregivers during outreach and community events.
  • Collaborate with ADRC staff and community partners to connect caregivers to services.
  • Promote awareness of respite services, caregiver education, support groups, and community resources.
  • Strengthen knowledge of aging, disability, and caregiver support systems throughout Rhode Island.
  • Develop and implement a personalized JEDI Growth Plan with your supervisor that establishes baselines and tracks growth across the three JEDI domains, two spheres of influence (interpersonal and within UWRI/sociopolitical systems), and your level of practice (Emerging, Developing, Practicing).
  • Complete the annual JEDI self-assessment honestly and use it to identify priorities for ongoing learning and growth.
  • Participate in annual JEDI training, monthly learning and reflection opportunities, and at least one quarterly teach-back of a JEDI learning experience.
  • Engage with UWRI JEDI initiatives such as the Equity Challenge, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), the Heritage and Professionals group, and the Culture, Equity and Strengths Committee (CES).
  • Participate in community, state, or national JEDI growth opportunities (including United Way Worldwide) as relevant to your role.
  • Engages caregivers and community partners with authenticity and empathy.
  • Identifies barriers affecting caregiver access and advocates for solutions.
  • Addresses challenges proactively while maintaining focus on equitable outcomes.
  • Speaks up when opportunities arise to improve inclusion, accessibility, or caregiver engagement.
