About The Position

The Family-Based Mental Health Therapist provides intensive, community-based mental health services to children and adolescents who are at risk of out-of-home placement due to emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges. Working as part of a two-person therapy team, the therapist delivers time-limited, family-focused treatment designed to stabilize family functioning, strengthen support systems, and prevent hospitalization or residential placement.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in counseling, therapy, psychology, social work, sociology, or related field of study.
Experience in therapy, children services, or in a mental health setting.
Two years of experience or full-time equivalent paid experience is required.
Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in behavioral health, social services, or related settings.
Experience providing individual, family, or group therapy.
Knowledge of family systems theory, child development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based treatment practices.
Experience conducting crisis assessments and implementing safety plans.
Familiarity with community resources, case management, and care coordination.
Strong interpersonal, engagement, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance coverage.

Nice To Haves

Experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system is a plus.
Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide intensive, family-centered mental health treatment to children and adolescents who are at risk of hospitalization, residential treatment, or out-of-home placement.
Work collaboratively as part of a co-therapy team to deliver comprehensive therapeutic services and support.
Conduct individual, family, parent-child, sibling, and caregiver therapy sessions in home, school, and community settings.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments and family needs.
Provide case management services and coordinate care with schools, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
Deliver crisis intervention and support families in managing behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric challenges.
Utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed treatment approaches to improve family functioning and child well-being.
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation, treatment plans, and progress notes.
Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development activities.
Work a flexible schedule that may include 2-3 evenings per week and on-call crisis response as needed.
