About The Position

MVCAA is seeking a motivated individual to serve as a Family Advocate for their Head Start/Early Head Start program in Carroll County. This role focuses on providing in-depth family support services and case management, utilizing a strengths-based approach during home visits. The goal is to assist families in achieving healthy self-reliance by supporting their life goals, helping them overcome barriers, and connecting them to valuable community resources. The position requires strong communication and networking skills to collaborate with other professionals and community resource providers to address the needs of the families served. The Family Advocate will work towards the mission of "Engaging communities and coordinating resources to improve the lives of people experiencing poverty" and fulfill the Community Action Promise.

Requirements

• Knowledgeable about community resources
• Willing to find options for families when resources are limited
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to operate a computer and keyboard, printer/copier, and other office equipment.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel by car to meetings at a distance from work site.

• Enhances parent-child relationships and supports parents’ role as the first and lifelong educators of their children.
• Participate in parent-child interactions through at-home activities
