About The Position

We are seeking a child and family supportive individual to join our Early Head Start team for our Family Advocate opening in Greensburg. As the Family Advocate, you will provide intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services to eligible community members and their families. Using your strong communication skills and knowledge of community resources, you will: Meet with in-need community members at their homes weekly and during socialization activities, Maintain a maximum caseload of ten to twelve families, Help families assess their own and their child's development needs, Assist families develop goals and strategies to meet those goals, Support family health and nutrition needs by providing information on resources, education, and transportation as necessary, and Aid families in acquiring necessary resources, making referrals when necessary. We (Westmoreland Community Action) are a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, collaborations, partnerships, information, referrals, and networking.

Requirements

  • Must possess a CDA credential or equivalent coursework.
  • Must possess a valid PA driver’s license and $15,000/$30,000 bodily liability auto insurance.
  • Must be able to provide or successfully obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background, and sex offender registry clearances.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or human services is preferred.
