About The Position

The Family Advocacy Ministry Leader oversees Southeast’s efforts to provide hope, connection, and support for foster and adoptive families, biological families, and adoptees. The Ministry Leader will work primarily with foster and adoptive parents in the church and lead two other Associates focused on Family Preservation and Adoptee Connection.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Five years of church leadership or non-profit experience
• Personal or professional background in the Foster Care or Adoption journey
• Strong passion for the biblical call for Christians to serve vulnerable children and families
• Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church (or willing to become one) who supports our Statement of Faith, submits to the leadership established by the church, and lives out our church Mantra in tangible ways.

• Knowledge of the Foster Care & Adoption journey, including training in trauma-informed parenting strategies
• Capable leader - able to build and inspire a team toward action
• Able to plan and coordinate events and programs
• Experience with teaching and speaking in front of various audiences
• Self-motivated and responsible
• Possesses excellent interpersonal skills - connects well and establishes heathy working relationships

Responsibilities

• Provide vision and leadership to the Family Advocacy Ministry, both staff and volunteers
• Plan, promote and coordinate church-wide Foster & Adoptive Parent programs and events
• Oversee Family Advocacy Ministry strategies and plans in all areas of programming
• Develop partnerships with campuses and other internal and external ministries necessary to achieve ministry objectives
• Recruit, train and lead volunteers who serve within the ministry
• Teach informational sessions and parent trainings as needed
• Serve as a pastoral advisor to both new and existing Foster & Adoptive Families
• Assist with the development of digital and print content for the promotion of events and programs
