About The Position

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks an in-person intern for its technology policy studies program. This program focuses on advancing policies to encourage innovation, competition, and growth in technology and seeks to minimize unintended consequences amid the rise of disruptive technology, such as artificial intelligence. The intern will assist AEI’s technology policy team with the program’s daily research and administrative activities and the tech policy newsletter. AEI internships offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience in research, writing, business, and communications at one of the nation’s leading think tanks. The fall program dates are either Tuesday, September 8, to Friday, December 4, or Tuesday, September 15, to Friday, December 11.

Requirements

  • Rising college sophomore or above
  • Outstanding academic record
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated interest in a wide range of technology policy topics
  • Strong grasp of US institutions and current events
  • Ability to participate in the program on an in-person basis for 30-40 hours a week

Nice To Haves

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher from a top-ranking college or university

Responsibilities

  • Provide research support for the technology policy team
  • Attend and staff AEI events, which regularly feature DC’s top policy leaders
  • Assist in posting and promoting daily content
  • Manage multiple projects, initiatives, and deadlines simultaneously
