The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. The Fair Hearing Administration / Medicaid Fair Hearing Unit serves as an internal mechanism for clients and their representatives to address problems or complaints related to Medicaid eligibility decisions, with the goal of reducing the number of Fair Hearings. Under general direction of Director of Fair Hearings with wide latitude for independent action and decision-making, the Fair Hearing Section Manager oversees the work of Fair Hearings Representatives who are responsible for preparing and presenting the Department's position at administrative hearing proceedings involving the Medical Assistance Program and the Home Care Services Program that are being contested by applicants or recipients for those services. Provide consultation and technical assistance to subordinate staff in complex cases. The Fair Hearing Administration is recruiting for two (2) Supervisor III (SS) to function as Fair Hearings Section Manager for their Medicaid Fair Hearing Unit.
