About The Position

The Failure Analysis Technician is responsible for conducting detailed investigations of equipment and component failures to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. This role involves using various analytical tools and techniques to perform failure analysis, documenting findings, and collaborating with maintenance and quality teams to improve equipment reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, keen attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in failure analysis, quality assurance, or a related field.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and materials analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in using analytical tools and equipment, such as microscopes, spectrometers, and mechanical testers.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document findings.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in failure analysis or a related field (e.g., CFME) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations of failed equipment and components to determine root causes.
  • Utilize various analytical tools and techniques, such as microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing, to analyze failures.
  • Document and interpret test results, identifying failure modes and mechanisms.
  • Collect and compile data related to equipment and component failures, including visual inspections, test results, and historical data.
  • Maintain detailed records of all failure analysis activities and findings.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on failure analysis results, including recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to gather information and insights related to equipment and component failures.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, including engineers and managers.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss failure analysis results and improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability and performance based on failure analysis findings.
  • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions based on failure analysis results.
  • Ensure that all analytical tools and equipment used for failure analysis are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments as needed.
  • Ensure all failure analysis activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Follow proper safety protocols when handling hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Address and resolve any safety concerns or violations promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
