About The Position

The faculty member will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Welding & Fabrication Engineering Technology department. They will instruct and evaluate student performance in one or more of the following welding areas: weld design, high energy density welding processes, fabrication of alloys, non-destructive testing, welding codes and procedures, and/or foundational welding processes (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Technology, or closely related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of industrial experience in welding.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Willingness to participate in advanced training programs which may require travel, with or without accommodation.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Education, or closely related discipline.
  • Curriculum development experience in vocational education.
  • Successful teaching experience.
  • Experience with outcomes assessment and/or ABET accreditation.
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing, High Energy Density Processes and/or Robotics.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate student performance in one or more of the following welding areas: weld design, high energy density welding processes, fabrication of alloys, non-destructive testing, welding codes and procedures, and/or foundational welding processes (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding).
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain regular office hours and fulfill all other duties and responsibilities according to contractual guidelines.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities.
  • Contribute to betterment of College through School wide committee participation.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Attend School and department meetings as requested by the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head.
  • Participate in program review.
  • Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of outcomes assessment plans and documentation.
  • Contribute to betterment of College through College-wide committee participation.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities.
