About The Position

The faculty member will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Welding & Fabrication Engineering Technology department. They will instruct and evaluate student performance in one or more of the following welding areas: weld design, high energy density welding processes, fabrication of alloys, non-destructive testing, welding codes and procedures, and/or foundational welding processes (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding).

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Technology, or closely related discipline.
Five (5) years of industrial experience in welding.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
Willingness to participate in advanced training programs which may require travel, with or without accommodation.
Possession of a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Education, or closely related discipline.
Curriculum development experience in vocational education.
Successful teaching experience.
Experience with outcomes assessment and/or ABET accreditation.
Experience with Non-Destructive Testing, High Energy Density Processes and/or Robotics.

Responsibilities

Instruct and evaluate student performance in one or more of the following welding areas: weld design, high energy density welding processes, fabrication of alloys, non-destructive testing, welding codes and procedures, and/or foundational welding processes (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding).
Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
Maintain regular office hours and fulfill all other duties and responsibilities according to contractual guidelines.
Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities.
Contribute to betterment of College through School wide committee participation.
Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
Attend School and department meetings as requested by the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head.
Participate in program review.
Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of outcomes assessment plans and documentation.
Contribute to betterment of College through College-wide committee participation.
Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities.
