About The Position

The Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies at Fairfield University invites applications for a full-time faculty member to teach in our Accelerated Second Degree Nursing Program in Austin, Texas. The Egan School offers Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)-accredited baccalaureate and graduate degrees in public health, nutrition, and nursing, with specializations in nurse anesthesia, nurse midwifery, family nurse practitioner, psychiatric nurse practitioner, and nursing leadership. Egan is a top-ranked School of Nursing and has been designated as a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence in Nursing Education. Candidates for the position should have experience that is consistent with the program’s mission and must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in competency-based education in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings.

Requirements

• Master's degree in nursing required.
• Active unencumbered nursing license in Texas.
• A minimum of two years of experience as a nursing faculty member.
• Documented education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development and competency-based assessment, as demonstrated through graduate course work, faculty-development programs, or completion or a certificate program in nursing education.
• Candidates must be innovative in curricular development.

Nice To Haves

• Doctoral degree in nursing, or enrolled in a doctoral program, preferred.
• Academic or nursing leadership experience commensurate with the mission, goals, and expected program outcomes is expected.
• Teaching experience in population health, mental health, research, and introductory nursing courses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the Accelerated Second Degree Nursing Program in Austin, Texas.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in competency-based education in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
• Incorporate simulation pedagogy into courses.
• Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by supervisor and as departmental/University needs indicate.
