About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Physical Therapy, the faculty member will perform duties related to teaching, service and research in the physical therapy field. This job description does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Duties and responsibilities listed are essential job functions and exclude functions which are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties.

Requirements

• Either post-professional doctorate degree or DPT with clinical specialist certification.
• Eligible for physical therapy licensure in Mississippi
• Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association.

Nice To Haves

• Two or more years of academic or clinical teaching experience.
• Familiarity with and willingness to employ active learning strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the university in implementing the Statement of Purpose
• Assist the university in implementing the long-range institutional and financial plans
• Use active learning strategies to teach entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy learners in faculty member’s area of expertise
• Create and maintain a scholarly agenda in faculty member’s area of expertise consistent with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
• Engage in service to the university and the profession through committee appointments, providing continuing education offerings, clinical practice, consulting, etc.
• Exemplify and promote the core values of the physical therapy profession to students and peers, which include accountability, altruism, compassion/caring, excellence, integrity, professional duty, and social responsibility
• Advise learners in academic and professional development issues
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
