Faculty (Part Time) - Nursing
About The Position
Western Kentucky University (WKU) is seeking part-time faculty to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Nursing. These positions are for day and evening classes at the main campus. Part-time instructors are responsible for teaching their assigned courses, collaborating with course and program coordinators to maintain curriculum quality, and managing student communication and grading, including entering final grades. Instructors are required to check their WKU email daily for communication. Part-time instructors are non-tenure-eligible faculty members who may teach didactic and/or clinical sections. Appointments are for one semester and may be renewable based on performance and enrollment.
Requirements
- For undergraduate didactic sections: Licensure as an RN in Kentucky or a compact state, Masters degree in Nursing, and a minimum of two-years of nursing practice within the last five years or recent teaching experience.
- For undergraduate clinical sections: Licensure as an RN in Kentucky or a compact state, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, and a minimum of two-years of nursing practice within the last five years or recent clinical teaching experience.
- For graduate nursing didactic sections: Licensure as an RN in Kentucky or a compact state, Masters degree in Nursing, Doctorate in Nursing or a related field, and a minimum of two-years of nursing practice within the last five years or recent teaching experience.
- For graduate clinical sections: Licensure as an RN in Kentucky or a compact state, Masters degree in Nursing, and a minimum of two-years of nursing practice within the last five years or recent clinical teaching experience.
- Licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner (APRN-FNP) or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (APRN-PMNHP) is required to teach clinical sections in the graduate nursing program.
Responsibilities
- Teaching assigned courses (didactic and/or clinical)
- Working with assigned course and program coordinator to assure continued quality of the nursing curriculum and program outcomes
- Instruction, communication with students, and grading
- Entering final grades in Topnet
- Checking WKU email daily
