About The Position

BHCC is seeking a Chair and Program Director for its two American Bar Association (ABA)-approved programs: the Paralegal Studies A.S. Degree and the Paralegal Certificate Program. The Chair and Program Director is responsible for teaching, program oversight, maintaining ABA accreditation, student recruitment, advising, and supporting the continued growth and development of the Paralegal Programs.

Requirements

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and license in good standing to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
College-level teaching experience in Paralegal Studies required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with active and experiential learning preferred.
Experience using educational technology or other electronic resources in teaching preferred.
Ability to support a diverse student population from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Community college teaching experience preferred.
Multilingual skills are a plus, including the ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish or another language.

Responsibilities

Provides academic leadership and administrative oversight for Paralegal faculty and students.
Advises students and leads recruitment and outreach efforts to increase enrollment and strengthen the Programs.
Teaches using varied, outcomes-based methods that promote critical thinking and integrate technology.
Manages ABA accreditation, supports curriculum development, and engages in professional development.
Participates in advisory board activities and supports internships and career placement efforts in coordination with Career Services.
Complies with all duties as stipulated in the Massachusetts Community College Council Collective Bargaining Agreement.
