About The Position

Teaches developmental, freshman, and sophomore-level mathematics courses while supporting student engagement, academic success, and instructional excellence. This is a Full-Time 12-month/tenure track faculty position, with a start date of January 2027.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics.
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within (30) days of hire.
  • Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency."
  • This position requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics with appropriate graduate-level mathematics coursework, or a master’s degree in Math Education or Developmental Education with at least 18 graduate hours in MATH or STAT.
  • College/university teaching experience and/or experience teaching developmental mathematics.
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish.(Speak)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and instructional technology.
  • Experience with Blackboard or similar learning management systems preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to student success, continuous improvement, and the College’s core values.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise students in assigned mathematics courses using effective instructional methods and technologies.
  • Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments in accordance with College standards.
  • Evaluate student performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Advise and support students and connect them with appropriate College resources.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional meetings and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to Alvin College policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
