About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU), a leading institution in Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking a full-time faculty member for its new Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program (MS-OT) within the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions. This role involves providing program instruction with innovative teaching methodologies and technologies. Candidates with experience in physical disabilities and neurological conditions are particularly encouraged to apply. As the program is in its final development stages, the faculty member will collaborate on course design and ensure accreditation standards are met. The ideal candidate will be passionate about initiating an exceptional graduate program and fostering a nurturing educational environment. Responsibilities will evolve to include teaching, advising students, supervising hands-on learning and simulation, and assessing student learning outcomes. The faculty member may teach both graduate and undergraduate courses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in occupational therapy.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
  • Active, current, unencumbered, unrestricted OT license.
  • Eligibility for Arizona state licensure.
  • Evidence of involvement in one’s professional area (e.g., membership in professional organizations, presentations, research, and/or publications).
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Nice To Haves

  • University teaching experience is preferred.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: functional anatomy and physiology, neuro and physiologic rehab, adult and geriatric practice.
  • Experience working with the accreditation process preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction to students.
  • Stimulate class discussions.
  • Provide students with feedback on examinations and assignments.
  • Remain current with new trends and development in his/her field of expertise.
  • Participate in activities that support development of the program and the accreditation process.
  • Maintain a course load consistent with the university's definition of full-time status (80-100 students).
  • Collaborate with the program lead and university supporting departments to design remaining courses and ensure accreditation standards are met.
  • Advise students.
  • Supervise students with hands-on learning and simulation.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
