About The Position

To provide information literacy/library instruction, research and reference services to students. This role involves delivering reference services, information literacy instruction, and library instruction, along with curriculum design. The Faculty, Librarian will maintain the materials collection, subject bibliography, and integrate relevant Library Services (LS) activities with instructional departments. They will participate in the development and delivery of the LS information literacy instruction and library instructional program, as well as serve on and participate in LS and college-wide committees and meetings. Additionally, this role will participate in LS budget planning and the formulation of goals, policies, and procedures, and maintain records and statistical data on LS functions and services. Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, knowledge of digital information resources, the internet, online electronic resources, and current learning technologies for effective teaching is essential to ensure student success at the community college level. Professional standards include appropriate use of the college's learning management system, participation in graduation and other official college functions, maintaining regular office hours to assist students, attending collegewide and department meetings, and recognizing and reflecting standards of civility and collegiality. Compliance with published college policies and procedures and meeting professional standards for teaching in a community college are also required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Reliable transportation for travel in the Austin area - ACC District as required.

  • Experience using technology as an instructional aide where appropriate to enhance learning.
  • Documented experience with active and applied teaching and learning methodologies.

Responsibilities
