About The Position

Full-time faculty at UA – Pulaski Technical College are responsible for delivering a high-quality learning experience that supports student success. Faculty serve as both instructors and facilitators of learning, performing instructional duties in alignment with the college’s mission, policies, and procedures. This position requires teaching a full course load of 30 credit hours for the academic year under the supervision of the Department Chair within the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in one or more of these areas:culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, hospitality management or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certifiable in one or more of these areas:CEC, CEPC, CCE with the American Culinary Federation or other certification body.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of industry experience.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in food preparation.
  • Leadership and managerial abilities, including excellent organizational, computer and communications skills.
  • Understanding and commitment to equal access/equal opportunity.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience as a chef de cuisine, executive sous chef, or similar leadership role.
  • Bachelor degree in a related field from a regionally-accredited institution.
  • Current professional certification (e.g., CEC, CEPC, CCE, or WCEC) through recognized organizations such as the American Culinary Federation or Worldchefs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of office hours/establishing a campus presence in accordance with UA-PTC Campus Presence Policy 623
  • Faculty must have flexibility to teach day and evening classes.
  • Actively and consistently participating in orientations, professional development workshops, all mandatory or required training, events, and meetings, such as commencement and convocation.
  • Ensure timely ordering of necessary instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of classroom, kitchen and storage areas; oversee periodic maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas.
  • Develop and deliver course curriculums according to program and course learning objectives.
  • Create detailed lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Conduct practical demonstrations and instruct students in various culinary and baking techniques.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Actively communicate, maintain, and collaborate with the Advisory Committee. Faculty are expected to incorporate Advisory Committee feedback as appropriate.
  • Complete all required reports, including but not limited to, course-level or program-level outcomes assessment, academic program review, and accreditation, within the prescribed time frame.
  • Management of accurate student records and timely submission of syllabi, roster certifications, grades and assessment reports
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment; adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Attend faculty development seminars.
  • Assist with periodic program review no less frequently than every three to five years for each academic program.
  • Assist with maintaining national accreditation through the American Culinary Federation and Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration.
  • Assist with Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute special events and restaurant services.
  • Engage in the ongoing processes and activities necessary for evaluation and professional development of faculty.
  • Participation in non-instructional activities, such as professional development activities, student advising, committee and departmental work and various level meetings as required by the college.
  • Engage in the ongoing processes and activities necessary for evaluation and professional development of faculty
  • Assist with career placement services
  • Pursue or maintain appropriate certification through the American Culinary Federation, the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the Worldchefs Society or other certification bodies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Promote the mission of UA- Pulaski Technical College.
