About The Position

The Full-Time Faculty, Clinical Psychology is a 10-month full-time faculty appointment in the Psy.D. Program in Clinical Psychology. As a core faculty member of the Psy.D. program, the primary responsibilities include teaching, dissertation supervision and committee work, student advising and mentoring, service to the department and university, and continued scholarship in the field as defined in the Stevenson University policies and the Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Teaching responsibilities include 24 contact hours per academic year. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts (which may include occasional off-campus, evening, or weekend duties/activities), and participating in the life of the university. Rank and title will be determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with education and experience.

Requirements

  • Maintain active clinical psychology license in Maryland or jurisdiction of residence/practice.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in instructional activity (teaching and serving as dissertation chair) totaling 24 contact hours per academic year.
  • Maintain and improve competence in subjects taught; Prepare courses and teaching materials (including syllabi) in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines; Grade all student work in a timely manner; Hold office hours (minimum of 3 hours per week); Meet with students as needed as it relates to instructional activity.
  • Evaluate, update, and revise courses regularly.
  • Dissertation chair responsibilities include regularly meeting with students to discuss relevant literature, study methods, data analysis, and implications; reviewing and giving feedback on manuscripts, IRB applications, and other relevant materials; and participating in proposal and final defense meetings.
  • Advise Psy.D. students in academic, research, and career matters.
  • Serve on student dissertation committees as requested or assigned. Committee member responsibilities include reading and providing feedback on manuscripts and study materials; participating in defense meetings; and consulting throughout the dissertation process on aspects of the dissertation in which they have relevant expertise as needed.
  • Participate in the development, administration, and grading of comprehensive examinations.
  • Participate in the assessment activities of the Department, School, and University.
  • Alert the Graduate Program Director and/or other appropriate university personnel to student concerns on a timely basis.
  • Maintain independent pursuits-including scholarly or applied projects-to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Attend professional conferences, workshops, or meetings to maintain currency in an area of academic interest.
  • Maintain scholarly activities that contribute to the profession through publications or presentations at regional or national conferences.
  • Seek external funding to support scholarly or programmatic activities as appropriate.
  • Attend all faculty, staff, University, and Psy.D. Program meetings, including contractually mandated recruitment activities.
  • Review application materials for and interview prospective students.
  • Participate in Psy.D. Program events and attend all required milestone events, including commencement exercises.
  • Serve on Psy.D. Program and/or University committees.
  • Participate in professional peer review and ongoing departmental activities, such as curriculum assessment and accreditation-related activities.
  • Perform professional service to the community, including psychology practice and other uses of academic and professional expertise to serve the profession of psychology and the University.
  • Demonstrate collegiality, as well as professional and ethical conduct, that enhances teaching, learning, and the general reputation of all persons in the academy.
