About The Position

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is seeking a 9-Month Faculty member for the Business department. This position is responsible to the Dean of General Education and the Vice Chancellor for Academic Services. The role involves teaching classes, maintaining office hours, advising students, professional development, serving on committees, maintaining records, ensuring syllabus availability, attending college functions, selecting textbooks, advising student organizations, cooperating with Advisory Committees, demonstrating professionalism, and completing required reports. The instructor will teach approximately 15 credit hours each semester and is expected to meet each class for the full duration of each scheduled class period. Maintaining office hours up to 15 hours a week is required, which may decrease if lab hours are abundant. The total scheduled time on campus should be a minimum of 30 hours per week. Classes taught will include Small Business Management & Organization, Entrepreneurship, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Introduction to Business, and Personal Finance.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a business field (MBA).
  • Degree must be from an accredited institution.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to individuals and large groups.
  • Able to perform basic research, analyze information and prepare reports in a logical and informative manner.
  • Able to problem solve, organize and prioritize work, multi-task, and be flexible and accepting of change.
  • Able to work independently and cooperatively with a team to achieve the mission/goal.
  • Able to work effectively and cooperatively with people of various cultural backgrounds.
  • All employees at UACCM must have a commitment to work cooperatively with all campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of UACCM, and have the ability to deliver quality customer services.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching classes as assigned, approximately 15 credit hours each semester.
  • Meeting each class for the full duration of each scheduled class period.
  • Maintaining office hours up to 15 hours a week to assure availability to students.
  • Serving as advisor for students assigned to the instructor.
  • Maintaining skills and knowledge within his or her area through professional development activities.
  • Serving on standing and/or ad hoc committees as assigned.
  • Keeping sufficient records to support grades assigned in all classes taught and submitting grades in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that a syllabus for each course taught is on file and any revisions are on file.
  • Attending functions at the college as requested by administrative officers.
  • Reviewing and selecting the textbooks and/or other materials needed for each course taught.
  • Serving as advisor for student organizations within the department (if applicable).
  • Actively cooperating with the Advisory Committee for his or her program (if applicable).
  • Demonstrating consistent professionalism with students and commitment to working cooperatively with campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of the College.
  • Completing all required reports, including but not limited to the Departmental Assessment Report and Faculty Self-Evaluation, within the prescribed time frame.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of General Education or the Vice Chancellor for Academic Services.
