About The Position

Undergraduate research assistant sought to support a community-engaged research project using participatory photography with youth in Albuquerque’s International District. Tasks include: Assisting with preparation and facilitation of youth photography workshops, Supporting communication and coordination with school and community partners, Organizing photographs, field notes, and project materials, Assisting with interviews, focus groups, transcription, and qualitative coding, Writing basic research memos and conducting literature searches, Assisting with preparation of a youth photography exhibition and community events. Meeting with faculty, either remotely or in person, at least every two weeks to discuss project progress. Correspondence via email with the principal researcher.

Requirements

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Interest in community-engaged research, youth studies, sociology, anthropology, education, photography, or related fields
• Comfortable working respectfully with youth, families, educators, and community partners
• Willingness to learn participatory research methods
• Maintain confidentiality
• Handle research materials responsibly
