About The Position

Computer Science is looking for students who are interested in applied research, technology for social good, and real-world measurement of networked systems. Responsibilities to include: work on a web-based tool for supporting community coordination efforts; assist with designing and conducting experiments on network performance and internet accessibility; conduct literature reviews and summarize findings related to digital equity, network access and tool usability.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM.
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count).
  • If Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Interest in (or prior exposure to) working with local communities and/or schools, as well as Human-Computer Interaction topics.
  • Experience programming in Python, JavaScript or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with web development frameworks, especially React.
  • Coursework or practical experience in networking systems and/or design of large programs.
